Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast

Cook time: 12 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter*
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour*
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk*
  • 8 ounces dried beef, sliced and roughly chopped*
  • 8 slices sourdough bread, toasted*
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Directions

  • Melt butter in a small pot over medium heat. Add flour and cook, stirring constantly, until no lumps remain, about 1 minute.
  • Whisk in milk and simmer, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens, about 4 to 6 minutes.
  • Stir in beef and cook until warmed through, about 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Place 2 slices of toast on each serving plate. Top evenly with chipped beef mixture.
  • Garnish with pepper and parsley.
